Call 211 in the event of an emergency to find out if human shelters in your area are pet-friendly. Detailed list of emergency go-bag items for your pets.

Free pet shelter and care for up to six weeks for owners who are in a time of crisis or transition and unable to care for their pets. The program offers meals, warm shelter, and vaccines for pets at no cost to the owner. To qualify, the owner must be a resident of Chittenden or Grand Isle county and working with a local human service organization.

The Humane Society of Chittenden County has a free pet food pantry in their lobby during shelter operating hours (Tuesday-Friday 1-5pm; Saturday 10am-4pm).
